This is an ancient, picturesque land. This is a land everyone admires. "Lijiang is rarely known to the outside world. It is the ancient Naxi Kingdom in south China which is almost forgotten..." Peter Ku, a Russian who had lived in Lijiang for over 9 years, described Lijiang in his book 'the forgotten kindom'. The beauty of Lijiang lies within its natural landscape and friendly people. Located in the northwest Yunnan Province with a population of 1.14 million people, the city is geographically remote which allows for a significant amount of undisturbed landscape, fresh air, breathtaking mountains, and clear streams. Some of the area's unique attractions include the beautiful landscapes of Yak Meadow, Tiger Leaping Gorge, and Black Dragon Pool, as well as rich cultural spots like the Stone Drum Town, Lijiang Ancient City, and the Murals as Baisha Village.
History traces the city of Lijiang back to the Warring States Period (476 BC -221 BC) but it came into more economical prosperity during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) when the Ancient Tea-Horse Road was used.
